Caring for Your Pangolin Ambassador
... and what to do if it breaks :(
Our pangolin ambassadors are lifelike models inspired by the Temminck’s ground pangolin. Each pangolin toy is proudly made in South Africa and aims to spark awareness and connection with this amazing but seldom-seen mammal.
To stay true to our mission, we chose to make them using a biodegradable, bio-based plastic, derived from renewable sugarcane and corn starch. We didn’t want to create a product that might pollute or harm the very animals and wild places we’re working to protect.
Why This Matters
Choosing this material is part of living our values: raising awareness for endangered wildlife while respecting the natural world they depend on. Each pangolin ambassador reminds us that protecting nature means thinking carefully about what we create, how we use it, and the story it tells.
Care Tips
-
Keep it cool: Like any natural material, it doesn’t enjoy extreme heat. Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight, near fire, or inside a hot car.
-
Play or display: Your pangolin is tough and built to be handled, played/fidgeted with, or displayed proudly. It is a toy after all. Just don’t drop it or force the flexible linkages into unnatural positions as they can snap.
- No feeding required: Unlike a real pangolin, which makes a terrible pet because you need to provide them with thousands of ants per day, our pangolin toys don't require any food. If taken care of, they will be a loyal companion for years to come. Just remember that they do need attention, so please pick them up and play with them daily.
In case of an “injury”
If a linkage does break, don’t worry, you are about to become a pangolin’s rescuer!
A small drop of superglue will quickly set it right.
- Put a drop of superglue on the broken link
- Align the pieces, hold steady until dry
Your pangolin will be as good as new (if not stronger, but slightly less flexible in that area).
Thank you for giving our pangolin a home and for helping us share their story with the world. 💚
